JCS Health Fair By: Scott Spicer  & Randy Combs Students at JCS
On Thursday Oct. 28, Jackson City School had a Health Fair, sponsored by the FRYSC.
It was held between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and all grades were invited to attend.
There were multiple booths set up where students and teachers could talk to different people about their chosen professions in the healthcare field and learn how to stay healthy and safe.
A hospitality room was sponsored by the principal’s office, FRYSC, and Tiger PAWS.
Amanda Booth, a 5th grade student, was winner of a portable TV donated by Carla Rodriguez.
JCS would like to thank the following people and organizations for participating: Dr. Griffith, Dr. John Combs, the Hazard Community College Nursing Program, Kentucky River Medical Center, Jackson Physical Therapy, Ky. Organ Donor Association, The National Weather Service, Dr. Rodriguez, Coroner Bobby Thorpe, The Lions Club, Breathitt Co. Drug Coalition, Project Unite, Pediatrician Denise Whitaker, Social Security, Department for Protection & Permanency, UK Science Outreach, Jackson Fire Department, Drive Smart Kentucky, and The Department of Forestry.
Debbie Clemons, FRYSC Coordinator, would like to thank everyone who helped make the 2004 health fair the most successful one ever.
