The Breathitt County Health Department has collected a water sample from a spring on Highway 1110. This spring, which discharges from a black plastic pipe, did show contamination. The total coliform count was 435.2/100 ml and the Escherichia coli or E coli tested 30.1/100 ml. This water in its raw form is not safe to consume especially for people who already may be suffering from other health problems.
