On February 17, 2010 Kentucky State Police Hazard received a 911 call stating that there was a 2 vehicle motor vehicle accident in the Brinkley community of Knott Co.

According to witnesses at the scene, the two cars collided head  on just prior to the Knott Co Trans Star Ambulance base. There were a total of 4 patients were transported from the scene to Hazard ARH hospital. No life threatening injuries occurred as a result of this wreck; however 1 female was airlifted to Cabbell Huntington Hospital due to entrapment in her vehicle. She is listed in stable condition at this time.
