Jackson City has a record of 13-11 will the be favorites this week when they face Buckhorn and Cordia. The Lady Tigers have only one senior in center Mallie Barnett so the future is bright upon the hill. Wendy Howard should be 14<sup>th</sup> region coach of the year.</p>
<p>Senior guard Timmy Smith poured in 37 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead host Elliott County (12-7) past East Carter (10-13) 72-54. Jacob Ison added 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winners.</p>
<p>Senior forward Shannon Turner poured in 38 points to lead South Floyd past visiting Paintsville 77-74. Turner hit 13 of 16 shots, six of seven from three-point range. The winners grabbed an early lead and held on as Paintsville outscored them 34-20 in the fourth quarter.<br />
Junior guard Kendall Noble poured in 32 points and had 10 steals to lead host Perry Central past Leslie County 66-48. The visitors, now 16-8, got 29 points from senior guard Hillary Moore. The winners, top-ranked in the 14th region, are now 19-3.</p>
<p>Letcher Central, the second-ranked team in the 14th region, rolled over visiting Hazard 66-46. The winners dominated in the front court with junior forward Erica Meade getting 17 points and 12 rebounds and senior center Keisha Collins contributing 17 points and 10 rebounds.</p>
<p>Junior guard Peyton Wright scored 28 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lift host Owsley County, now 14-5, past Wolfe County 62-48.</p>
<p><strong>Thacker wins 200<sup>th</sup></strong></p>
<p>Rowan Co. coach Shawn Thacker got his 200<sup>th</sup> career win last week.  Rowan Co. is 17-5 including an upset win over Ashland. The Vikings are poised to make run at Rupp Arena.</p>
<p>Brandon Pierce had 24 points and 20 rebounds for the Beth Haven Bearcats, who rallied from nine points down in the second half to beat the visiting Shawnee Golden Eagles. Sean Brown added 16 points.Shawnee was led by Bavion Mack&#8217;s 10 points.</p>
<p>Sean McNary collected 20 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks for the host Whitefield Wildcats over Trimble Co. 51-46.. Luke Stoltz added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Skiler Alexander scored 15 for the Raiders.</p>
<p>Tori Earnhart had 18 points and Kaelyn Caffee 15 for the host Beth Haven Bearcats over Shawnee 53-45.. Freshman guard Jada Jackson scored 26 for the Golden Eagles .</p>

<p>The Breathitt Co. Bobcats knocked off Lynn Camp on Friday night despite 40 points from Wildcat big man Tyler Wagner. Saturday morning, the Bobcats upset Southwestern but fell to the Boyd Co. Lions in the night cap.</p>
<p>The Riverside Lady Rams edged Bath Haven by a bucket and Jackson City had no problem with J. Frank White. The Riverside Rams fell to Rose Hill on a Friday. Guard Sean Hughes scored 37 points in the loss followed by Jordan Daniels with 12.</p>
<p>Landon Hale poured in 41 points as Piarsit outlasted Riverside 71-51. Sean Hughes led the Rams with 20 points and 4 blocks. The Breathitt Ladycats lost close games to Garrard Co. and North Laurel. St. Patrick and Beth Haven defeated Jackson City.</p>
<p>Belfry&#8217;s Alexis Howard scored 22 points and fellow senior J.J. Bevin’s&#8217; 21 points included the 1,500th of her career in the Lady Pirates 59-47 win against visiting Pikeville<br />
       Carla Booth, who will play at EKU, scored a game-high 33 points and Sheldon Clark used a 12-point advantage in the first quarter to get by host Breathitt County. Leslie Spencer had 30 points and 12 rebounds for Breathitt County.<br />
      Rowan County (14-4) jumped out to a 15-point lead at halftime en route to a 54-40 victory against visiting Lewis County. It was Rowan County Coach Shawn Thacker&#8217;s 200th win.</p>
<p>Breathitt Co. Lady Cat Lindsey Spencer was named WYMT player of the week. Spencer is one of the top forwards in the mountains and is be recruited by several state schools.<br />
<strong>                                                        Around The Commonwealth</strong></p>
<p> Sacred Heart went on a  22-1 run to race by Seneca 67-33.Morgan Clemons scored her 1,000th career point, and visiting Sacred Heart rode a 22-1 second quarter to a 67-33 rout of Seneca on Tuesday night.</p>
<p>       Jazmin Smith had 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting for the Valley Valkyries (17-4), No. 10 in The Courier-Journal&#8217;s Litkenhous Ratings. Clemons added 12, and she and Smith each grabbed eight rebounds. Jada Grady had four three-pointers and 15 points to lead the Redhawks (7-10).</p>
<p>       The Southern Trojans got double-doubles from Shavonne Jackson (13 points, 13 rebounds) and DaVice Woods (12 points, 10 rebounds) in beating the visiting North Bullitt Eagles 61-50</p>
<p>       Keona Daniel scored 15 points and Makaila Hilliard has seven points and 10 rebounds for the winners.</p>
<p>       North Bullitt was led by Savannah Morrison with 13 points and Katie Downey with 10.</p>
<p>       Top rated Manual  Lady Crimsons (20-4) held the host Lady Raiders (3-14) to single digits in each quarter to win their eighth in a row. The 16 points were the fewest Manual has allowed this season. Manual blew out Iroquois 65-16.</p>
<p>       Michelle Guess scored 18 points and Kara Wright 14 as 12 Lady Crimsons scored.</p>
<p>Ballard 80, Waggener 22: Led by Javonna Layfield&#8217;s 17 points, 12 players scored as the Bruins (8-11) crushed the host Wildcats (2-15). Ashley Palmer led Waggener with 10.</p>
<p><strong>Lady Rams win 2 out of 3</strong></p>
<p>The Riverside Lady Rams held on to beat a pesky Oneida Baptist squad Thursday night winning 50-44. After losing to Beth Haven Saturday morning, the Lady Rams bounced back and whipped Portland Christian 46-35 later that afternoon.</p>
<p>Sean Hughes poured in 22 points in losing effort as the Rams lost to Brown 53-38. The Breathitt Bobcats fell to the 15<sup>th</sup> region All “A” champs Betsy Layne 63-50.</p>
<p>Buckhorn lost a heart breaker to Hazard 14<sup>th</sup> region All “A” championship 55-52. In the girl’s championship game, Leslie Co. rolled over Owsley Co.</p>
<p>Hillary Moore scored 23 points, including the 2,500th of her career, and had 10 rebounds in Leslie County&#8217;s 93-29 rout of June Buchanan in the 14th Region All &#8220;A&#8221; Classic.</p>
<p>            Perry County Central&#8217;s Kendall Noble had a triple-double — 20 points, 11 rebounds, 10 steals and seven assists — in the 13th-ranked Lady Commodores&#8217; 69-31 win against visiting Johnson Central.</p>
<p>Junior guard Peyton Wright had 31 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks as Owsley County rolled over Lee County 70-42 in the quarterfinals of the 14th Region All &#8220;A&#8221; Classic.</p>
<p>Freshman Rachel Potter had 30 points, 12 assists, six rebounds and four steals in Pikeville&#8217;s 87-55 win at Phelps. Lindsey Isner added 26 points for the Lady Panthers.</p>
<p>Senior forward Tyler Lafferty hit eight three-pointers and scored a game-high 37 points as Sheldon Clark held off South Floyd 78-71 at home. Justin Johnson added 10 points and 13 rebounds for the Cardinals.<br />
      Freshman guard Trevor Jenkins hit a reverse lay-up with one second left to lift host Estill County to a 52-50 win over Breathitt County. Senior Cade Berryman led the Engineers with 19 points and seven rebounds. Jenkins scored five points.<br />
<strong>                                                     Around The Commonwealth</strong></p>
<p>    Jalen Wesson racked up a game-high 25 points to lead the host Butler Bears  over the Moore Mustangs 58-53. Jamon Sanford totaled 15 points for Moore.</p>
<p>Ballard 89, Fern Creek 85: The visiting Ballard Bruins were led by Quinton Snider’s 21 points as they won 89-85 over Fern Creek. Jerrell Moore led the Tigers with 29 points.</p>
<p>LaQuasha Jones netted 17 points as the host Western Warriors beat the Bearcats KCD 58-27.</p>
<p>Shavonne Jackson scored 15 points as the Southern Trojans  beat the host Wagner Wildcats 50-38. Waggener&#8217;s Ashley Palmer had 20 points.</p>
<p>Jermaine Jackson scored 22 of his game-high 44 points in the second quarter as Iroquois built a 14-point halftime lead and went on to an 80-68 victory over host Atherton in boys&#8217; basketball Thursday night. The Raiders (13-5) led 17-13 after one quarter before Jackson scored all but four of their 26 second-quarter points.</p>
<p>Andy Read had 12 points and 11 rebounds and Marcus West 16 points for the Rebels (4-14).</p>
<p><strong>Smith reaches milestone and sets School Record</strong></p>
<p>Pineville senior guard Chelsey Smith had a game-high 33 points in Thursday’s game. It’s been a big week for Smith as she surpassed the 2,000 career point mark on Friday. She became the Lady Lions’ all-time leading scorer on Saturday and then became the top scorer in history of Pineville High School.</p>

<p><strong>            </strong>The Breathitt Co. Bobcats have won three in a with an 86-72 win over Cordia. Big man Bobby Fraley led the Bobcats with 20 points.</p>
<p>The young Riverside Rams lost to Burgin in the Coaches vs Cancer Classic at East Jessamine 83-29. Jordan Daniels led the Rams with 12 points followed by Sean Hughes with 10.</p>
<p>Owsley Co. outlasted the Jackson City Lady Tigers 68-38 in the first round of the All “A” Classic. Cody Bentley knocked down five three baskets for 25 points has Prestonsburg defeated county rival Allen Central 78-65.  Clay County got 23 points from Whitney Jackson in a 61-47 victory at Breathitt County.<br />
     Nathan Martin scored his 1,000<sup>th</sup> career point in Betsy Layne’s 59-31 win at Lawrence County. He had 11 in the game.<br />
  Ashland Blazer outscored Greenup County 38-10 in the second quarter and went on to win 80-54 at home. Cody Withrow led the Tomcats with 21 points.<br />
      Buckhorn junior Matt Day had 26 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Leslie County.</p>
<p>     Southern Illinois signee Treg Setty had 21 points and 11 rebounds as Mason County beat Simon Kenton 67-52.</p>
<p>      University of Louisville signee Sara Hammond had 22 points, 11 rebounds and six blocked shots as Rockcastle County beat Wayne County 65-41.</p>
<p>Western Kentucky signee Danay Fothergill had 25 points as Pulaski Southwestern downed Russell County.</p>
<p>       Senior forward Matthew Taylor had 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead host Corbin (12-4) to a 65-56 win over South Laurel (9-8).</p>
<p>      Freshman point guard Rachel Potter scored a game-high 29 points and also broke Pikeville’s record for assists in a game with 14 in a 67-49 win at Allen Central.<br />
     Junior guard Lauren Little, just 5-foot-5, had 17 rebounds for Leslie County (10-6) in a 69-44 win at Lee County (5-8).<br />
      Jillnell Bevins scored a game-high 24 points in Belfry’s 66-51 victory at Tug Valley (W.Va.).<br />
      Senior guard Hillary Moore scored 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Leslie County (11-6) past Jenkins (7-10) 70-49.</p>
<p><strong>Around The Commonwealth</strong></p>
<p>Drew Mumford poured in 24 points to lead the Christian Academy Centurions 61-47 over the Collegiate Titans to the Seventh Region All &#8220;A&#8221; title. Ivan Talley added 14 points. David Keyer scored 16 and Harris Levine 15 for the Titans .</p>
<p>China Dow posted a triple-double (21 points, 10 rebounds and 13 steals), and the Christian Academy Lady Centurions beat the Brown  Lady Bears 71-27  to claim the All &#8220;A&#8221; Seventh Region crown.</p>
<p><strong>Rowan Co. Defeat Bobcats, Lady Cats</strong></p>
<p>            The Breathitt Co. Bobcats traveled to Rowan Co. and lost to 65-49 on Friday night. On the flip side, the Rowan Co. Lady Vikings traveled to Breathitt Co and knocked off the Lady Cats 63-36.</p>
<p>       Jackson Co. cruised by Riverside 75-35. Sean Hughes led the Rams with 10 points.</p>
<p>       Sawyer Denniston, a junior guard, went 20-for-26 from the field and 11-for-15 from the line to score 52 points in Wolfe County&#8217;s 73-69 win against visiting Menifee County. Denniston also had 13 rebounds and four steals.<br />
       Angie Lawrence and Sara Hammond scored 18 and 16 points, respectively, to lead No. 5 Rockcastle County to a 61-26 home win against Somerset<br />
       Freshman guard Rachel Potter had 23 points and six assists in Pikeville&#8217;s 65-52 defeat of visiting Prestonsburg.</p>
<p>Pike Central’s Hobo McCoy was named WYMT player of the week after averaging 30 points a game last week.  Kendal Noble of Perry Central was named the girls player of the week. Noble averaged a triple double over three games.</p>
<p>       Brooke Coleman scored 25 points and had five steals and host Shelby Valley cruised to a 64-36 victory against Johnson Central.</p>
<p>      Whitley County senior forward Leeann Moses hit a three-pointer to send the game to overtime, but South Laurel (6-7) hung on in the extra period to win 52-49.</p>
<p>       Louisville signee Sara Hammond led Rockcastle County to a victory over Somerset with 16 points and nine rebounds.<br />
       Mercer County senior Clay Cinnamon had 30 points, nine rebounds and five assists in a 73-58 win over West Jessamine.<br />
       Kenneth Faired notched his 71st career double- double as Morehead State defeated Tennessee Tech 76-74. Faired helped Moorhead secure their 10th win of the season.</p>
<p>      Four Lady Bulldogs scored in double figures as No. 24 Union opened Appalachian Athletic Conference play with an 80-69 victory over host Virginia Interment on Thursday.</p>
<p>      Four Pikeville College Bears reached double figures and the home team forced 28 turnovers in an 87-65 win over Virginia Intermont College Monday night.</p>
<p><strong>Around The Commonwealth</strong></p>
<p>  Owensboro Catholic sophomore Becca Greenwell is averaging 35.7 points game after 12 games, which is tops nationally. The 6-foot-1 Greenwell has scored 40 or more points six times</p>
<p>       Daryian Frazier scored 17 points and Doryian Frazier had 16 to lead Frankfort to a 63-56 win at Franklin County. The Flyers outscored the Panthers 27-8 in the first quarter, but Frankfort turned the tables with a 23-4 advantage in the second<br />
      Jerea Brice&#8217;s basket with four seconds left lifted the Central Yellowjackets  over the Christian Academy Lady Centurions 45-44.Brianna Averette scored 17 points and Brice added 11 points and 12 rebounds to lead Central. China Dow had 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals to lead CAL. Kate Joss added 14 points.</p>
<p><strong>Lady Tigers Cruise by Haven</strong></p>
<p><strong>            </strong>The Jackson City Lady Tigers made the trip to Louisville and knocked off Beth Haven 46-35.</p>
<p>Danay Fothergill scorched the nets for 36 points as her Southwestern Warriors remain undefeated with a 69-52 win over county rival Pulaski CO.</p>
<p>Knott County Central’s Zach Davis had 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists in a victory over Tates Creek last week.</p>
<p>            Georgetown College, ranked #3 in the nation, held of Pikeville 74-63 behind Eddie Gray’s 17 points. Former Mason Co. standout Trevor Setty led Pikeville with 14 points followed by Justin Hicks with 12.</p>
<p>The Lady Bobcats of Bell Co. hold on to defeat Harlan Co. 39-36. Makalya Neal scored 11 points and pulled down 7 rebounds for Bell  Co. Kalee Carroll led Harlan Co. with 10 points.</p>
<p>Aaron Smith scored a game high 28 points as Corbin edged Madison Southern 70-64. Jeremy Ponders scored 22 in a losing effort.</p>
<p>The Paintsville Tigers had three players scored in double figures as they blewout Lawrence Co. 72-45.</p>
<p>            Clay Co. knocked off 13<sup>th</sup> region rival Knox Central 65-56. JV Hooker led the Tigers with 17 points followed by Matt Mitchell with 15 points.</p>
<p>Trimble County 61, Shelby County 37: The visiting Trimble Co. Lady Raiders (3-2) blew open a close game with a 20-0 run that made it 55-30.Trimble senior guard Raegan Black scored eight of her 14 points in the final quarter. Forward Justus Martin led the Shelby Co. Lady Rockets 13 points and 13 rebounds. </p>
<p><strong>Around The Commonwealth</strong></p>
<p>Bullitt Central 64, Southern 49: Seaera Minyard had 18 points for the visiting Lady Cougars (4-1). Shavonne Jackson led Southern (2-3) with 15 points and 10 rebounds.</p>
<p>The Grant Co. Braves (2-2) were led by Jalen Kinmon with 19 points and Josh Blackburn with 18 points in the victory over the visiting Shelby Co. Rockets 86-73. Eric Schreiner led the Rockets with 24 points, including six three-pointers. Trevor Hunt added 13 points for the Braves.</p>
<p>Henry Clay 68, Manual 57: Daniel Kiesling scored 16 points to lead the host Henry Clay Blue Devils  over the Manual Crimsons  68-57. Manual was led by Bryan Repishti’s 15 points.</p>
<p>South Oldham 83, Trimble County 45:The South Oldham  Dragons defeated Trimble  Co. behind the solid play by  senior guard Eric Blair made seven three-point field goals on his way to scoring a game-high 30 points, while sophomore forward Jack Sherry added 17 points for the hosts. Senior forward Justin Webb led Trimble County (1-4) with 13 points.</p>

Lady Cats Capture 55th District Title<br />
The Breathitt Co. Lady Cats captured another 55th district championship as they defeated Jackson City 73-26. The Lady Cats had four players in double figures. Breathitt Co. will face Leslie Co. on Monday in the first round of the 14th region tournament. The Lady Cats have defeated Leslie Co. 55-44 and 55-23 in their two regular season meetings. If the Lady Cats can outlast Leslie Co., it will more than likely set up a match up with Letcher Central in the second round that may determine the who is going to Diddle Arena.  Powell Co. could the tourney sleeper with a 21-5 record.<br />
In one of the most exciting district in finals in the mountains, Wolfe Co. knocked Breathitt Co. 51-48. The Bobcats will face mountain power Knott Central in the first round of the 14th region basketball tournament. Knott Central defeated Breathitt Co. in both of their match ups this season.  Hazard will the favorite over Powell Co and will face the winner of the BHS-KCC game.<br />
June Buchanan and Wolfe Co. will kick the tournament off on March 3. June Buchanan has a 14-13 record and Wolfe Co. has a 18-11 mark. Perry Central will take on the 56th district champs Owsley Co. Owls. The Commodores defeated the Owls 76-48 in January.<br />
Across The Commonwealth<br />
Tim Harrison&#8217;s 22 points paced the Moore Mustangs 73-65 over Fern Creek.in the 6th final at Assumption. Orlando Rutledge had 32 points for the Tigers (11-15).<br />
Brice Jewett scored 14 points to lead five players in double figures as the South Oldham Dragons (25-5) defeated the North Oldham Mustangs 73-56 in the 29th championship at North Oldham. Chris Schumm added 10 rebounds and 11 points for South Oldham. Max Steinfield led the Mustangs with 23 points.<br />
Heather Wheat and Megan Cureton both scored 15 to lead the Butler Bearettes over the Iroquois Raiders  in the 22nd District championship at Iroquois. Stephanie Malone and Victoria Brown led the Raiders with 20 points each.<br />
 The South Oldham Lady Dragons  raced to a 22-5 first-quarter lead and never looked back to win the 29th District at North Oldham over the Colonels 77-58.South Oldham has won the 29th twice in a row and four of the past five seasons. Jordan McGuffin scored 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting for South Oldham, while Jessica Leanhart had 15 points for Oldham County.<br />
Robin Deckard had 17 points and Kim Mingus 10 as the Holy Cross Cougars overwhelmed the Pleasure Ridge Panthers 51-24 in the 21st final at Valley. Adrienne McGhee led PRP with nine points.<br />
Robinson Scores 1000th Point<br />
            Riverside Ram forward Jared Robinson scored his 1000th point vs Cordia in the last regular season game. Robinson, a 6ft2 forward, was 12 points heading into the contest. He finished up the season averaging 16.8 points per contest.</p>

<p>The Appalachian Wireless – Riverside Prep Showcase</p>
<p>76 teams in 5 different gyms in Breathitt Co.</p>
<p>The 5<sup>th</sup> annual Appalachian Wireless-Riverside Prep Showcase will be the biggest regular season basketball event in Kentucky with 76 teams ranging Chicago to West Virginia everywhere in between will be making their way to Breathitt Co. The Prep Showcase will tip off Friday, February 12 and run through Saturday, February 13 and will be played at the Breathitt High Coliseum, Breathitt High Auxiliary Gym, Jackson City, Lees College and Riverside Christian.</p>
<p> Four of the top twenty five girl’s team will be in town including Sacred Heart, Mercy, Ryle, and Louisville Moore. The Breathitt Co. Lady Cats will face Mercy on Friday and Notre Dame on Saturday.</p>
<p>On the boy’s side, the Newport Wildcats will face the Breathitt Co. Bobcats on Friday then the Bobcats will square off 7<sup>th</sup> region power Louisville Moore. Fern Creek, featuring Orlando Rutledge, will play Perry Central. Letcher Central will have their hands full as Eisenhower, Illinois rolls in to Breathitt Co.</p>
<p>If you’re a fan of high school basketball, Breathitt Co. have some of the best high school action in the state this weekend. The Prep Showcase will feature teams from Class A up to Class 6A .</p>

<p>In one of the best 14<sup>th</sup> region All “A” championship games in years, Hazard defeated Buckhorn in overtime 82-79. Matt Day scored 27 points for Buckhorn. The Bulldogs were led by Josh Whitaker with 22 points.</p>
<p>            Maris Hovee scored a game high 28 points but the June Buchanan lady Crusaders fell to Owsley Co. in the finals 66-49 in the 14<sup>th</sup> region All “A” championship game. Mika Turner led the Lady Owls with 27 points and 7 assists.</p>
<p>Leslie Co. blitzed Riverside Christian wining 103-27. The Eagles were led in scoring by Hobert Asher with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Jared Robinson led the Rams with 9 points and 7 rebounds.</p>
<p>Richmond Model eased by Riverside Christian winning 73-38. The Rams was led in scoring by Chris Hudson with 10 points followed by Jared Robinson and Tommy Moore with each scoring 7 points.</p>
<p>Josh Salyers collected 18 rebounds to go along with 10 points but it wouldn’t be enough as Perry Central fell to Christian Co. 63-59. Anthony Hickey scored 26 points for Christian Co. The night before, Christian Co. snapped Shelby Valleys 53 game home winning streak with a 69-66 win.</p>
<p>Breathitt Co. defeated June Buchanan 78-67 behind Dakota Ritchie’s 31 points. Nick Noble added 13 points in the win. Clint Stepp dropped in 18 points in the loss.</p>
<p>Knott County Central senior guard Stuart Stamper&#8217;s 21 points in a win over Breathitt County pushed him past 2,000 career points. He&#8217;s the school&#8217;s all-time top scorer in boys&#8217; hoops.</p>
<p><strong>Around The Commonwealth</strong></p>
<p>Travis Stepp&#8217;s 29 points boosted the Bullitt Central Cougars (5-10), who survived 43 points by Dwayne Gordon of the host Antheron Rebels (2-15). Bullitt Central held off Atheron 85-78.</p>
<p>Devon Thompson scored 16 to lead the Shawnee Golden Eagles over the Holy Cross Cougars 73-54. Shawnee  forced the visiting Cougars (10-8) into 23 turnovers. Reserve Jai Black scored 10 for Holy Cross, which shot only 23percent.</p>
<p><strong> </strong>Thomas Blakemore&#8217;s 15 point led the Ballard Bruins (10-5) over Irvington New Jersey 57-53.in the Toyota Classic at Scott County.</p>
<p><strong>We Burn Coal Classic</strong></p>
<p>The first annual We Burn Coal Classic will be held on February 4<sup>th</sup> and 5<sup>th</sup> at Riverside Christian. Teams scheduled to play are Riverside Christian, Hazard, Silver Grove, Powell Co., Wolfe Co., Jenkins and Oneida Baptist.</p>
<p><strong>Appalachian Wireless Riverside Prep Showcase</strong></p>
<p>The final touches are being out on of the fourth annual Riverside Prep Showcase for February 12-13. The Showcase will bring 84 boys and girls teams from Kentucky including Eisenhower High from Chicago and Scott, West Virginia. Four of the top 25 girl’s teams in the state are also on the schedule.</p>

<p>The Breathitt Co. Lady Cats lost at the buzzer to Clay Co. 37-35. Kendra Noble and Eden Keeton led the Lady Cats with 9 points each.</p>
<p>Timmy Knipp led the way with 30 points in Elliott County&#8217;s 77-73 victory at West Carter. Craig Faulkner and Jacobs Ison both added double-doubles for the Lions. Faulkner had 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Ison had 12 points and 10 boards. West Carter kept it close with 13 points and 16 rebounds from sophomore Derrick Lawson.</p>
<p>Wolfe Co. was no match for state power Lexington Catholic loosing 81-50. Jaylen Beckham led the Knights with 14 points and Seth Beckham added 12 points and 4 rebounds.</p>
<p>            Matt St. Johns scored 25 points and hauled in 11 rebounds as South Laurel cruised by Whitley Co. 61-40.</p>

<p>            In the Defenders of the Station Tournament, Bryan Station cruised by Dunbar 65-51. Joey Reed scorched the nets for 23 points and Aaron Wilson added 12 points for the Tigers.</p>

<p>South Laurel upset Pleasure Ridge Park 60-53.<strong> </strong>Matt Watkins scored 22 points as the Cardinals (6-4) topped Pleasure Ridge Park in the championship game. Senior guard Jaquail Fowler scored 13 for the Panthers (6-1).</p>
<p>In the Republic Bank Classic at Lexington Catholic, Ben Watson led Highland with 17 points, Jack Stewart had 12, and Luther added 11 as the Bluebirds defeated Perry central 56-52. PCC was led by Tyler Mullins&#8217; 16 points and eight rebounds. Cory Martin added 13 points and four rebounds</p>
<p>McCreary Central outlasted hazard 68-56 in the first round of the Republic Bank Classic<strong>.</strong> Aaron Watts led all scorers with 26 points and added six rebounds, six assists and three blocks for the Raiders.</p>
<p>The Scotties (6-3) shut out the Wildcats (0-9) in both the second and fourth quarters to win their third game in a row. Glasgow freshman Kelsey Greer scored a game-high 16 points. Whitney Williams added 11, and Shelby Ray had 10.</p>

<p>The Breathitt Lady Cats have suffered two loses in the Republic Bank Classic. The lady cats lost to Community School from Florida 37-40 and to North Hardin 41-52.</p>
<p>Perry Central had no problem with Leslie Co. winning 76-40. Jordan Amis and Chris Noble combined for 28 Points. Henry Asher paced the Eagles with 11 points.</p>
<p>After Knott Central upset Fairdale in the King of the Bluegrass, Seneca blewot the Patriots 102-53. Six players scored in double figures as the Seneca Red Hawks hit 61.1 percent and surpassed the 100-point mark. Kevin Shaw<strong>, </strong>Aaron Nance and Martez Harris had 16 points apiece. Knott Central was lead by Tate Cox with 9. In the Fairdale win, Tate Cox had 16 points and 8 assists.</p>
<p>Earlier in the week, Knott Central held off Hazard 70-56. Stuart Stamper led Patriots with 18 points followed by Tate Cox with 15. BJ Combs scored 13 and Josh Whitaker added 12 in a losing effort.</p>
<p>Johnson Central had no problem with Sheldon Clark winning 82-60, Jason Parker led the Golden Eagles with 34 points and 12 rebounds.</p>
<p>Williamsburg squeaked by Barurbville 60-57. Jason Teller and Brent Baker combined for 38 points for the Jackets. With the loss, Barbourville falls to 3-3 on the season.</p>
<p>Bath County senior guard Taylor Maze<strong>,</strong> who leads the state early in the season with a 30.2-point per game scoring average, poured in 41 points and added nine rebounds and seven assists in an 85-73 victory over Bracken County.</p>

<p>The Breathitt Co. Bobcats had five players in double figure as they pulled off an early upset defending 14<sup>th</sup> region champions Hazard Bulldogs. The next night, the Bobcats held off a pesky Letcher Central Cougar squad winning 87-80. Justin Taulbee scored 22 points followed by Nick Noble with 19 and Travis added 16 in the Bobcat win. Brian Roark scored 28 for LCC.</p>
<p>Zach Gayheart scored a game high 26 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the Jackson City Tigers captured a road win over South Floyd. All region guard Pedro Sierra added 20 points and big man Josh Hollon scored 20 points in the win.</p>

<p>Victoria Shouse scorched the nets with 25 points followed by Kendall Noble scoring 19 points as Breathitt Co. defeated Powell Co. 60-55.  Leslie Spencer added 10 for the Lady Cats.</p>
<p>Dontarius Pittman scores a career high 32 points as Lee Co. got a district win over Estill Co.  Cade Berryman led the Engineers with 12 points and Jon Allen with 10.</p>
<p>Wolfe Co. placed four Wolves in double figures and they eased by Morgan Co. 75-63.</p>
<p>Stuart Stamper and Tate Cox scored 19 points each as Knott Central blew out Betsy Layne 85-63. In the game, Stamper became Knott Central’s all time leading scorer.</p>
<p>Matt Day scored a team high 30 points and collected 12 rebounds in helping the Buckhorn Wildcats defeat Owsley Co. 83-64.  Devin Evans scored 31 points and Timmy Murrell chipped in with 18 in the loss.</p>
<p>Josh Salyers scored 17 points to lead Perry Central over Bell Co. 63-53.  Jordan Amis scored 18 in the win. On Saturday, Perry Central defeated state runner up Central in the Farm Bureau Classic at the Expo Center.</p>
<p>Lee Co. defeated Riverside on homecoming 69-38. Jared Robinson led the Rams with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Daniels added 10. The Bobcats were led by Gus Wise with 16 points and 9 assists.</p>
<p>Knott Central Patriots cruised by Cordia winning 90-60.  Logan Bartum scored a career high 19 points and teammate Zack Davis added 14. Matt Stacy paced the Lions with 13 points.</p>
<p>The Lee Co. Lady Cats knocked off Jackson City as Beth Bowling scored 14 points in the win.</p>
<p align="center"><strong>Around The Commonwealth</strong></p>
<p><strong>            </strong>North Laurel blitzed Owsley Co. 70-48. The Lady Jags were led by Sara Crawford with 18 points.</p>
<p>            Boyle Co. edged East Jessamine 80-70. The Rebels had four players in double figures.</p>
<p>            Gallatin Co. blew out Eminence 95-29. Brandon Carlton and Billy Jones combined for 43 points in the win.</p>

<p>            The Breathitt Co. Bobcats will begin their march to Bowling Green this Friday as the Bobcats will face Wayne Co. in the first round of the class 3A playoffs. Wayne Co. has a 4-6 record with wins over Casey Co., Jackson Co., Taylor Co. and Clinton Co.  This game  will be played at the Mike Holcomb Atheltic Complex.</p>
<p>            Noah Reed scored the go ahead touchdown in the final minutes as Clay Co. rallied to defeat Hazard 34-28. Turnovers played a huge factor for Hazard in the loss.</p>
<p>            Prestonsburg cruised by Pike Central wining 46-20.  Joey Burchett connected on 8 of 14 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown for the Black cats. Teammate Joe Jamerson ran for a couple of touchdowns in the win. This is the third time in school history that the Black cats have gone 10-0.</p>
<p>            Lexington Christian had no trouble with Corbin winning 41-21. Lucas Witt and Dominique Hayden each scored two touchdowns for LCA.</p>
<p>            Jordan Amis completed 12 of 18 passes for 314 yards and two touchdowns. When Amis was not throwing the ball, he was just as deadly on the ground running for three more as Perry Central defeated Leslie Co. 53-16.</p>
<p>            Sheldon Clark proved why their one of the best in the mountains with a 48-17 thumping of Pikeville. Mike Moore and Brad Stafford each ran for touchdowns for the Cardinals.</p>
<p>            For the fifth time in school history, Lawrence finished with an undefeated regular season record with a 42-6 win over Tolsia, West Virginia. Lawrence Co. had one of the biggest turn arounds in the state from their 1-9 season last year.</p>
<p>            John Dudley Hilton and Corey Davenport each scored two touchdowns and Bell Co. blew out Harlan Co. 41-14.  Bell Co. has a 9-1 record heading into the playoffs.</p>
<p>            Logan and Hunter Crowder combined for three touchdown as Allen Central improved to 9-1 with a 38 – 32 win over Knott Co. Central.</p>
<p>            Tim Farley accounted for three touchdowns as Raceland defeated Russell 27-15.</p>
<p align="center"><strong>Around The Commonwealth</strong></p>
<p>            In a Northern KY slugfest, Covington Catholic outlasts Dixie Heights winning 39-34. Brayden Erpenbeck completed 17 of 35 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown in the win.</p>
<p>            Defending state champ Central defeated Pleasure Ridge Park 18-0. Tim Patterson and Chris King each found the end zone in the win.</p>
<p align="center"><strong>Undefeated Teams in Kentucky</strong></p>
<p><strong>            </strong>In class 2A Murray, FT. Campbell and Prestonsburg are undefeated. In class 3A, only Somerset and Mason have a perfect record. There are three schools in class 4A that are unblemished with Lawrence Co., Boyle Co., Allen Co. Scottsville. In class 5A, Highlands and John Hardin are undefeated.  Every team has suffered losses in class 1A and class 6A.</p>
