| Breathitt County Heritage Fair Meeting January 25, 2005 Breathitt Life Skills Center
I. A representative from the state level of County Fairs was present to inform us of policies regarding reimbursement. Anything done for youth qualifies, along with anything involving agriculture. II. Election of Officers A. Chairman-Anthony Mullins B. Co-chairman-Julie Hamblin C. Secretary-Marilyn Haddix D. Treasurer-Bobby Thorpe E. Public Relations-Ron Hamblin III. Delegation of Different Committees A. Entertainment-Juniorette Club B. Religion-Karen Bunn C. Schools/Youth-Juniorette Club, FFA, 4H, Extension D. Craft/Food Booths-Tony Turner (?) E. Parade-Donna F. Displays/Judging-Anthony and Julie G. Animal/Livestock H. Logistics-George IV. Fair Dates: September 30-October 2 V. Next Meeting: February 15, 6:30, Life Skills Center Breathitt Heritage Fair Meeting February 15, 2005 6:30 p.m. Breathitt Life Skills Center I. Call to Order II. Pageants - Dianne and Shannon Turner: Founders of Kentucky Fair Pageant Association (KFPA) -Will take care of full production of pageant. -Entry fee of $75.00. -They will be able to accomodate to any special requests we may have. -We can sell concessions or souvenirs for profit. - Martha Boggs is having the County Fair pageant on the weekend of July 4th. -We may be able to sponsor this. -A motion was made, seconded and passed to support the County Fair pageant on the 4th of July and to begin negotiations with KFPA. III. Dog Show - Doris Newton -Would there be enough talent to make it competitive? (i.e., obedience) -Proposed and obedience seminar that she could teach. -Different categories. -Judges won't be a problem. -Suggested that no trophies be awarded, but proposed certificates for or actual pet-related prizes. -Need a location for seminar. -Best place to have the show is at a school playground. -Obedience classes start March 21st. IV. Tourism Board donate $10,000 to the Heritage Fair. V. Entertainment - Our best options are Kentucky Headhunters, Crystal Dawn Johnson, and Sawyer Brown. - For our big concert, we're looking at the Industrial Building at Lakeside or the Coliseum. VI. Horse Show - People are ready to help with this. VII. Website - Wizard, Inc. is hosting this site. - Anthony will try to put an old catalog on the computer. VIII. Greased Pig Contest - We need people to take charge and pull this off. - Ron will chech with Tony Turner. IX. Pride of the Mountains Goat Show - They will do this show themselves. X. Golf Tournament - Brendon Miller had mentioned this to Ron. We can sponsor this and the golf course will promote it. XI. Tent -Will discuss at next meeting. XII. Senior Citizens will do churning demonstrations. They have also let us their building if we need it. They want to teach lard rending. They also mentioned a Rook tournament. XIII.
