Hello From Denniston

Hope everyone is enjoying the warm sunny summer weather we have been having.  The storms that came through on Tuesday were a little rough, but we all survived.  The most dangerous part of the storms was the lightening.  We really needed the rain, so I guess we take the good with the bad.  Hopefully the drought will end soon.
We need to continue to pray for all those in our community who are dealing with medical and other problems.  Remember those who have had loved one to pass away, that they will be given the strength and courage they need to go on.  Please remember my aunt Ida Mae Yocum, and my little nephew, Jessie(may be facing surgery on his sinuses due to the  blood vessel on his brain).  I know that prayer can and will change things.
The Menifee Co. Volunteer Fire Department has had several runs in the past couple of weeks.  On July 1, they were toned out to assist and set up a Landing Zone for a 17 year old victim hit by a car.  On July 2nd., they were toned out to a 10/46 and a Landing Zone set up for the victim on Tarr Ridge.  On July 4th, they helped the Sheriff's Dept. to search for an individual.  Also on that day, they were toned out to a 10/46 at Means at the Dog Trot intersection.  On July 6th, they were toned out to a wreck on Frenchburg Hill.  On July 8th, they were toned out to a wreck on 1274 near Camp Judy Layne.  Also that day, they assisted the EMS with a patient in Frenchburg and were then toned out to the wreck scene to assist with traffic control for the wrecker service.  On July 9th, they assisted Wolfe Co. with a business fire.  On July 10th, they were toned out to a wreck at Little Salt Lick.  On July 14th, they were toned out to rescue a fall victim in the Gorge.  On July 17th, they were toned out to Edgewood Estates due to a lightening strike.  Later that afternoon, they were toned out to do a carbon monoxide check.  As always guys.......thank you for all your unselfish help when we need you.  You come at our beckoning calls and we can never thank you enough.
Everyone enjoy the next week and keep safe.

It has been a little while since I have gotten to write the "Hello From Denniston" article and I will have to say that I have missed doing it.  I want to first thank Mr. Hamblin for allowing me to continue to write this article in the "Menifee Messenger".  I miss Margaret and the "Foothills Courier" like most of you, but a big thank you goes to Mr. Hamblin for picking up where Margaret had to let go.  Now we have a community paper back and it is a great thing.
As always, I want to remind all the community to remember to keep all those who are sick or are facing difficult times in their prayers.  A special prayer needs to go out for my aunt, Ida Mae Yocum, who is in the hospital fighting blood pressure problems.  I believe that prayers can and will change things if we pray together.
