Breathitt UNITE Coalition held it's first Softball Tournament July 31st & August 1st. The tournament was a huge success. Despite mother nature dropping several hours of rain on Douthitt Park, the tournament went on. Teams from all over the State ventured to Breathitt County for this tournament. Teams ventured from Nicholasville, Mt. Sterling, West Liberty, Jackson County, Wolfe County, Lee County, and one from right here in Jackson. When the mud had settled and rain had cleared, Local Team, Fleetwood, walked away with yet another tournament victory.
Game #1 Young Guns defeated Dirtbags 14 - 3. Game #2 Jackson County Advanced over Jackson Construction out of Morehead. Game #3 Fleetwood hammered Hillbilly Thump 21 - 3. Game #4 Wall Bangers defeated Choppers 14 - 8. Game #5 Wall Bangers Upset Mass Construction 15 - 10. Game #6 Fleetwood slipped by Jackson County 17 - 15. Game #7 Young Guns defeated Wall Bangers 16 - 12. In the Finals of the winners Bracket, Fleetwood defeated Young Guns. After some losers bracket action, The Young Guns came all the way back to the championship game running out of gas against Tournament Champions Fleetwood. |
