There was a mighty big storm that hit here and parts of Southfork that knocked down power lines. My telephone line was just ripped off the pole. Our electric was out for 9 hours. Trees were down just about everywhere. American electric sent a crew out right away and they worked hard fixing these lines. I t took so long because there were 4 or 5 places that trees had fell on the lines. It sure is hard not having that necessity. Nothing will work without it. I would like to send birthday wishes to my big brother Ervine Fugate who celebrated his 60th on the 13th of this month. He is on dialysis and is doing well on it. Also I have another brother on dialysis, Larry Fugate lives in Indiana and has a transplanted kidney given to him by another of my brothers O.H. Fugate. Larry’s kidney has rejected and is now on dialysis again. Prayers are needed for them both. My grandson Jonathan Castro celebrated his 14th birthday on the 12th. He lives in Nebraska and I really do miss him and his family. The kids are all growing up and I have missed it since I live so far away from them. Halloween is just around the corner and the kids have so much fun during that time of year. I try to make it fun for my 2 grandchildren Cody and Tara. We rake up the leaves and they jump in them and roll around and around. Then we stuff some old clothes, making a scarecrow or some sort of creature. We also make Halloween crafts and play games. There are so many things to do. When children come here they don’t want to leave. They say their parents can come here and visit them. It has been like that for years and years. Children that have grown up say their best times were here and will always remember being at Dumb Betty Br. Please pray for my neighbor Forest Clemons who has been diagnosed with cancer. He has been ill for a while now. We wish him the very best and will pray for him. His wife Dallas does a great job taking care of him. She also makes the time to visit her neighbors to see how they are doing. Not very many people like her left in this world. Imogene Ritchie has been in the hospital here in Jackson but is home now doing much better. Imogene is another good neighbor of mine. The ghosts and goblins are coming….So long for now. Big Branch Southfork News by Diane Fugate 2-2-04 Hi everyone! I am back. I haven't been able to send the news as I would have liked to but now I can. I sure hope everyone is staying warm and cozy and healthy during this blast of January weather. Warm one day and ice the next. Oooooo. I guess thats January for us though. Ya just never know what to expect. I would like to say a get well to our neighbor Bill Howard, who hasn't been feeling well lately but I heard he is doing better. He and his wife Hazel are great people and I couldn't think of better neighbors. Every spring I look forward to seeing him on his front porch listening to music. I would like to say hello to my friend Ada in Pennsylvania, who loves reading the Breathitt online page. She says that it keeps her close to home even though she is miles away. Her mother has been very ill and I would like to ask everyone for their prayers for her and the family. Dale Fugate is feeling better after a bad set back with the flu bug. We have to keep her well because she is my flower planting partner also we try to come up with little projects to do around the house. I think that keeps us both sane. Haaaaa. Sidney miller enjoyed the recent warm days. He was able to take his daily walks in the park in town which he sure enjoys and is good for him. Sidney is a great person and does anything he possibly can to help another person. So if you know him and see him give him a great big hello. The snow has started falling again and the kids just can't wait to get outside. On Pretty days its hard to get them out of the house, but let it snow and get cold and out the door they go. You folks have a great week and stay safe and warm. Be nice to others and always offer a smile. I bet you'll get a bigger smile in return. God Bless you all!! DUMB BETTY Br. News by Linda Fugate/ 2-07-04 It has been awhile since I have written any news. Sorry it has taken me this long. Our community is saddened by the death of our friend and neighbor, Forrest Clemons. He was a good man and was friendly to everyone. His wife Dallas has many friends and family to help her in her time of grief. She also is a very good person. We send our sympathies out to her and her family. My dog (Shorty) passed away from suffering with injuries. He was struck by a pickup truck in November but recovered quickly from that. In December he was attacked by coyotes and they almost wringed his neck by slinging him with their teeth until my other dog (Gizmo,a chow) came to the rescue. They turned on Gizmo and let Shorty loose. Gizmo had a few injuries to his leg but not bad. He saved Shorty that’s for sure. Poor Shorty had been bit by a snake about 10 to 12 times at least and he hated a snake, especially copperheads. Well looks like the squirrels have moved into the neighborhood. They have nests all over the trees in the hills. I think they watch to see what I gather. In October, my grandchildren Cody and Tara helped me to gather the walnuts. We put them in a wagon (which was overflowing) and pulled it in the yard so the sun could dry them out. A week later I looked at the wagon and was shocked. The squirrels had took over half the nuts and left me the hulls. I was mad and figured I would fix them. So I put the rest of the walnuts in buckets and put screen tops on them then a lid on them and sit them in plastic crates on the front porch.. Those pesky critters weren’t going to get what walnuts I had left. It wasn’t over a week when I just happened to look out the window on the porch, there to my surprise was a squirrel standing upright close to the window just staring at me. The first thought was “Oh no, I bet he wants my walnuts”. So I ran and opened the door trying to scare the pest. He just stood there, so I yelled for him to get off the porch, which he did but slowly. That squirrel had an attitude. Sure enough I was right. He had robbed me again. He figured out to take the screen tops off. This time I really fixed him and just brought them in the house to dry out. Hopefully he won’t come knocking on the door for them. My son Ronnie Castro from Nebraska came in during the hunting season in November. He hunted every single day he was here and I got to see him very little. I was happy for him when he got his first buck. He got him an 8 pointer. It cost him to hunt here but he loves it. His brother-in-law John Hardin came in with him but John was disappointed because he never got a deer. They both hunt in Nebraska and John got him 2 big bucks out there. The tree trimmers have been so busy cutting down trees that in the way of power lines. Our electric went out a few days ago when one of the men cutting the trees got hurt when a tree fell in his way and fell on the power line. We are happy to say that he had minor injuries. They have a dangerous job. Ted’s grandson Teddy and his friend John came to visit from Florida. They wanted to see snow, which they have never seen before. It snowed three hours after they left to go home so we don’t know if they seen the snow or not. They sure did like to shoot their guns. That’s about all they did while here My son Randy and his children came to stay overnight last week and while coming across the swinging bridge, Randy fell and ripped his pants all the way down his leg. When they got in the house the kids were laughing at their daddy. Tara still laughing said he ripped his pants like Sponge Bob. Until next time, have a great week and may God bless you. BIG BRANCH SOUTH FORK NEWS by Diane Fugate 3-24-04 Hello everyone! I hope this finds all well. I guess everyone is in anticipation for Spring and the blooming of all the flowers. I sure am. These past few days have been great. With all the sunshine and I saw a butterfly this morning! It was the greatest thing. A lot of the kids are on Spring break this week so you all watch out for them.I would like for everyone to keep Doug caudill in his prayers this week. He lost his mother, Clara Turner last week. She was my aunt and we truly loved her. I always thought of Doug as my uncle, because he was raised up with my dad and all my aunts and uncles. He is a great guy and if you know him, then you know what I am talking about. Not too long before his mother passed away he lost his home to a fire. So please say a prayer for him and all of his mothers brothers and sisters. So what have you all got planned for this Spring? Planting new flower beds and getting those gardens started? Landscaping or remodeling your home? So much to do and hopefully we will have the sunshine to do it. I surely love the Spring. It must be the smell in the air, it makes you feel young again. Dale Fugate this week has been house cleaning and her uncle Sid has taken advantage of the weather and went to the track to get in his walks. I saw Hazel Howard and Bill Howard this week too. They are both doing fine. James and Crystal Coomer's son Dustin came over and spent some time with my boys. There are alot of boys on this road and they usually are up here with us. We love having them. They are a good bunch of boys. One week we had ten altogether and what a time that was. Randy Castro came down to visist with us last week and my husband, his uncle, rangled him into fixing our hallway light. Randy is a great guy and knows his stuff. He had that light going in no time flat. Thanks Randy!!I guess thats it for now I will have more to write soon. You all have a safe week and God Bless you all!! Big Branch Southfork News 4-12-04 HI! I hope you all had a great Easter! The weather I guess could have been a little bit more Sunnier, but oh well, we shouldn't complain. We all went to my mother's house to have Easter Dinner and to hunt eggs. That's always been a tradition with me. I can't remember Easter without my Mom's cooking. Of course the past few years my brother has cooked a lot too. I'm kind of embarrased because he does cook a lot better than I do. Oops, did I say that out loud? Nobody tell him. Seirously, we enjoyed being together and laughing and adding some more memories together. Dale Fugate and Sidney Miller also went with us. Dale and I got to hide the eggs this year. The kids had a great time. And yes I did thank my brother for the good food. Haaa. He always makes my favorite so I couldn't go without thanking him. He's a great brother. I would like to say Happy Birthday to my son William Monroe Fugate, who, turned 14 on the 12th. He's a good boy. I told him he would make a good Lawyer because he likes to argue a lot with me. Sometimes he wins too. Dale Fugate had a few visitors this week. Sharon craft and her husband Rader came to visit from South Carolina. They were staying with their mother Phoebe Hamblin. Also her son Mike came in to see her. They all looked so good. A mothers love is just something you can never forget. There's not enough miles in the world to keep you from that. They all got to spend time with there brothers here too. Its good when families get together. I would like to ask for your prayers for my uncle william Campbell this week. He is in the Nursing Home and is in and out of health. Also pray for his wife Pearlie Campbell, she has worried and worried over him. Pearlie had a stroke a couple of years back but she is 81 strong. She is a very special woman and has been through quite a lot in her life. From coal camps, to wars, to seeing her brothers and sisters, who she helped raise, pass away. She is holding strong though. We have a stray dog up our way now. He just hangs around. He seems like a pretty good dog all except for trying to get in the garbage. But he has stopped that after a round with a possum. He mostly just sits on the front porch waiting for someone to pet him or feed him. Maybe one day he will decide to go home. My husband tells me that he will never leave if we keep feeding him, which is true, but I can't let him starve to death on my front porch. Nope, won't happen. So guess what, I still feed him. Shhhhhhh.......... You folks have a great week and stay safe. God Bless you all!! Diane BIG BRANCH SOUTHFORK NEWS 8-20-04 Hi One and all! I hope this finds you all well. Well the kids are all back into school and I hope this is a good year for them all. My three seem to like it this year and i am tickled too death because so far I haven't had to fight with them to get up in the mornings Haa. I have noticed a lot of folks sneezing and coughing including my family. this weather is changing quickly. My aunt pearlie Campbell has had the sneezies but she keeps on going bless her heart. Dale Fugate has been back home for quite awhile now after a really bad time of it. She is getting stronger everyday. Her Uncle Sidney Miller sticks right by her. Thats good to see, family taking care of each other. I saw Tommy and Adam Turner this week practicing on their skate boards. They are getting good. Linda and Phoebe, Dale's sisters came up this week to visit her this week. I can hear them laughing inside the house and thats music to my ears. They are really close and very lucky to have each other. I saw Julie Hamblin and her two sons Mike and Jeffery at walmart this week. The boys are getting as tall as she is. Julie is a little thing and sweet as can be. She is very hard worker and is always on the go. My brother Duane and his wife Sonya came to visit me last weekend. They were out four wheeling and ususally stop by to say hi. He is my little brother but he is a whole tree taller than I am. I use to be able to take him in wrestling but I got afraid when I had to look up to find him. So that was the end of my wrestling career. Honey festival will be here soon and I sure hope to see a lot of you there. I can not believe how fast this year is going. I guess that is about it for me. I just wish all of you good health and a safe week. Remember to smile at people even though you dont know them by name. This is a small town if you dont know the names I'm sure you will remember the faces. Just smile and say Hi how are you. It might brighten someones day. God Bless you all!! Diane Fugate DUMB BETTY news by Linda Fugate 4-13-04 Hello everyone, hope you had a good Easter. Looks like the squirrels have put away enough food to munch on for a while. I haven’t seen much of them these past weeks. They are most likely up in their cozy nests planning on what they are going to rob when it gets warmer. I am pretty sure they will hit the fruit trees first. They are very sneaky and I have to keep my eye on them. My granddaughter celebrated her 7th birthday on the 25th of March. She had a party here on the 28th of March. My grandson Cody (Tara’s brother) was the only boy at the party. All those who helped her celebrate were me of course along with Ted Seibert, Jessica Fugate, Brianna Haddix, Hayley Turner, Melanie Miller and her grandmother Bonnie Miller. Tara and Cody’s father (Randy Castro) and mother (Rita Haddix), Dale Fugate, Phoebe Hamblin, Sid Miller and David Leveridge. The kids had such a good time. I would like to send birthday wishes out to my brother Gary Fugate who celebrated on March 28th. Would like to send birthday wishes to my son Ronnie Castro in Nebraska who celebrates today on April 13th. Hope he has a great day! Can’t forget to say “happy birthday” to my nephew William Monroe, who celebrated on the 12th. He was 14 years old. My grandson Brandon was here to visit his father Randy Castro on April 5th. Brandon lives in Campton. Tara and Cody are his brother and sister and they were visiting too. They sure do have fun together. Brandon wasn’t feeling well while he was here. I visited my neighbor Mina Shepherd and she is doing well these days. Get well to Fred Hardin who has been in Lexington in the hospital. He lives down the road from me and I didn’t know it until his daughter Penny Castro (my daughter-in-law) called me from Nebraska and told me about him. We hope he is feeling much better now. Another neighbor of mine, Dallas Clemons has been ill also. She has arthritis in her back and it is so painful for her. She is trying to sell one of her horses. If anyone is interested, just come on up next place past Dumb Betty Br. She has some beautiful horses. I am so glad springtime is here. The trees look so pretty with their blossoms. Time to mow the grass again too. My nephew Mike Hamblin and his girlfriend Crystal and her son, came to visit me on Friday. Mike lives in Ohio and came in to spend Easter with his mother (my sister) Phoebe Hamblin. It was nice to see him again. My son Randy Castro hid eggs for his children, Cody and Tara Castro on Saturday. The kids had a great time. They couldn’t be here on Sunday for Easter. Ted Seibert’s son and family came up here on Saturday also. Jeffery and Sydney, Ted’s two grandchildren were so excited about hiding eggs that they wanted to do it over and over and over… I am glad that they all came on Saturday because I could not walk on Sunday from the severe pain of rheumatoid arthritis. I could not even pick up a spoon or any object. I could not get up from my chair. I was a mess but now I feel much better. It is raining again and we have to use the swinging bridge, which is in bad shape. The boards are rotting and falling off. We have to watch where we walk or else. I have never been afraid of the bridge but I sure am now, it’s a long drop to the bottom. Until next time…enjoy life. God bless! Big Branch News by Diane Fugate 6-13-03 Hi Folks! I hope everyone has had a chance to enjoy the sunshine while it lasted. It was so gloomy and rainy today, but thats spring for you. So unpredictable. We managed to get our garden out and the rain helped alot on some of the plants but others it has just drowned them out. A lot of people has had trouble with their tomatoes with so much rain. Well, school is out and the children are on the loose. Summer vacation for me was always the best when I was little. It meant more time in the hills and less time having to read. But somehow mom always managed a book or two in there when the bookmobile came around. The swimming hole was busy all day long and the popcicles were plentiful thanks to my grandpa. There were a lot of us cousins and he always managed to have a heaping helping, bless his heart. I sure do miss him. Fathers Days is coming up so remember to hug your dad and tell him you love him! If your dad is no longer with you just look up and smile and tell him anyways. He will hear you. I saw several copper heads here lately so watch your children around stacks of wood or around bushes. Troy Neace's grandson was bitten two weeks before school went out. The doctor said only one fang went in his ankle but if they both had gotten him he wouldn't have made it. I am so glad that he is ok. He is fine now and playing again. He is a straight A student and his grandparents are very proud of him! So ever one be care out there and watch! I guess thats it for now. You all have a great week. To all the Dads out there have a great Day!! Please watch out for the children at play.. because they may not watch out for you. God Bless you all! DUMB BETTY BR. NEWS by Linda Fugate 6-4-03 Hi again to everyone out there. Hope you all had a good week. Summer will soon be here, so prepare for the hot weather to come. I had company on Monday and Tuesday, May 26, and 27th. My grandchildren Cody and Tara Castro and my nephew Jeffery Hamblin, spent the night and they had so much fun. We put a tent up and Cody and Jeffery played in it for a while, but Tara loved it and wanted to spend the night out there. All three of them were in the tent when all of a sudden a big loud clap of thunder roared in the sky and it took all my might not to laugh as the kids came tearing out of the tent, almost knocking it down. Jeffery was first and fell halfway down but he was in such a hurry he picked himself up so fast that he probably didn’t even notice he fell. Cody was next and he looked terrified as he ran, bumping into Jeffery as he leaped for the porch. Poor little Tara was crying as she made her way out and was screaming for me to get her. She was already on the porch by the time her words came out. At night, same thing, as soon as it got dark all three of them ran in and leaped for the couch like nothing happened. They really had fun. Next day we went riding on the 4 wheeler, up the holler a little way. They also played in the branch water. Jeffery got his shoes wet, while Tara and Cody got their clothes wet. Next time Jeffery comes we hope to have the pool fixed. A family member fell through our swinging bridge, which is in bad shape. We put a board on it so we could get up to go check the mail and I fell in coming down and bruised my leg. Hopefully it will be fixed before I write next weeks news. The county has promised me for 2 weeks now and they usually do what they say. So for now I have to tell company who do not drive across in the creek, that the swinging bridge is broken. Have a great week! Dumb Betty News by Linda Fugate _7-21-03 Last weekend we had a very busy time. On Friday we went to S.M.S. for the Relay for Life. My church, Holy Cross had a booth there and our team did very good at raising money, considering this was our first year doing it. We also had a good time. The entertainment was really great too. Our walks around the track reminded all of us how much we miss our loved ones we lost to cancer. On Saturday we went to Ron and Julie Hamblin’s wedding. The bride was so beautiful and the groom was very, very handsome. Their wedding was a great success for them. After the reception the two were off on their honeymoon. Congratulations to both of them on their marriage and I wish them many years of happiness together. My son Raul Castro and his family are here from Nebraska for their vacation this week. Two of my grandsons had a birthday this month. Cody had a birthday on the 7th and Joseph (who lives in Nebraska) had a birthday on the 12th. So to celebrate their birthdays we had a party for them both, which turned out great. There were horseshoes and basketball. The kids had so much fun in the pool. I would like to say I am so glad my nephew Mike Hamblin from Ohio got to come up and have a good time. It was really nice to see him. Thanks to everyone who came and Cody and Joseph had a great birthday. Tara and Deidra had so much fun too. Thomas, Monroe, and Jessica along with Jeffery had a lot of fun. I could tell by the way they laughed so much. Randy, Shanna, and baby Brandon, Raul, Cinda, Dale, Phoebe, Gary, O.H. Opal, Frances, uncle Sid , Mike, Ted, David and myself all had a wonderful time. We killed a rattlesnake in our road last week and it had 12 rattlers on it. That was a large snake. So far we have killed 4 copperheads in our yard and we have August and September to go yet. Last year we killed 13 in one day in our shed. Hope we don’t kill that many this year but it looks bad. Until next time, have a safe and happy week. Big Branch, Southfork News by Diane Fugate 7-28-03 Hi folks! I hope that each of you are having a great summer. The weather has been pretty good for us and the water holes and swimming pools are filled to the hilt! I've seen a lot of swimming pools around some of the homes up this way and they all look real tempting. I remember the water hole at my grandpa's and how all of us cousins would stay in it all day long. Gosh seems like yesterday. Summer time fun remains the same for the children today. We went up to the strip job at press Howard last weekend with my brother to pick black berries. We got quite a few but there was a lot that was not ready to be picked. My son Thomas took his first driving lesson up there as there was not a lot of vehicles around and he loved it! I think its beautiful up there. I went with my dad when I was little to see where he worked and to pick polk salad. I loved it there. A lot of it has been dozed over and most of the ponds are gone now. I would like to send out my love and prayers to my cousin James Kincannon and his wife on the passing of their baby boy this week. James is a good man and his wife is the sweetest lady around. Please remember them in your prayers. They are going through a hard time in their lives now and really our prayers .School will be starting again soon and there are school clothes to buy and supplies. Please watch out for the children as they will be waiting on the buses of a morning. God Bless you all andhave a great week!! DUMB BETTY news by Linda Fugate 9-20-03 It has been awhile since I have written any news so I have lots of it to put on here. I had so much company this summer I just can’t put all of their names on here. I have had a really good time with visitations from my family. My son Raul and his family came in twice to visit from Nebraska. It was a pleasure to have them here, since I rarely see them. They enjoyed themselves while here. I hate to see them leave when they come but I know they can’t stay. My grandchildren Deidra and Joseph are growing so much I couldn’t believe how tall they are getting. Nebraska sure does agree with them. Joseph had celebrated a birthday on July 12th while they were here and we had a birthday party for him and my other grandson Cody whose bithday was on July 7th. Almost my whole family came up to help celebrate and have a bar-b-que. My sister Dale came up and stayed over night . We played games on the computer and watched a movie, just doing some relaxing. In fact she has stayed here a couple of times. Ted (my fiancé) killed a rattlesnake in our road, it had 6 rattlers and a button . I have never seen a rattlesnake here before and I have lived here for 23 years. Killed lots and lots of copperheads though. Ted and my son Randy killed a copperhead that was having its babies in the shed, there were 23 baby snakes and more that were inside a sack that fell out when Ted shot it. It was so creepy. I have never seen a thing like that before, not even on National Geographic. My neighbor Mina Shepherd is doing very well now and is trying her best to walk around her yard. She has had a hard time since she broke her hip. She has her walker so she seems to manage pretty well with that. Mina will be 89 this year. I have been so fortunate to have such a fine neighbor. Another of my neighbors who hasn’t been doing well is Imogene Richie. She has been very ill and both her and Mina need our prayers. Imogene lives with Mina and they keep each other company along with their nephew Ricky who lives in the house next door. He keeps the place looking good since Mina has been ill. Another neighbor of mine has been very sick is Forest Clemons. He has been sick a long time and from what I hear he is doing lots better lately. His wife Dallas visits her neighbors quite often and makes sure they are all doing well. She is a very kind and sweet person. There have been a few 4 wheelers going up the holler here. Fred Hardin bought him a new one and takes his grandsons for rides up the holler. Ted and I took my grandchildren, Cody and Tara up the holler and we had the cart on the back. I ended up riding in the cart with Tara and it was so bumpy but was worth it to hear her laugh and have so much fun. Cody had to have a turtle and put it in the cart but it was so scared, It came out of its shell with its arms and legs stretched out stiff. I had to make the kids put it back on safe land. Never seen a turtle move so fast. Would like to wish my son Raul Castro a happy birthday today. Hope he has a good celebration. Have a great week and enjoy life to its fullest. Big Branch News by Diane Fugate 9-24-03 Hello to all! I am finding it harder and harder to get time to send in the news but I am trying. I sure hope that all of you are doing well and have had a great Summer. Seems like Fall is upon us even though we may still have those periods of hot spells. I think Fall is wonderful! Great hill climbing weather and camping weather. Best time in the world for a campfire. I dont like thinking of raking those leaves or getting the plastic up for winter, so I concentrate on the fun things to do. Dale Fugate is spending the week with her brother Larry in Indiana and we really miss her. She made some fried green tomatoes before she left and now thats she's out there I am craving them. I can not make them. She will be back next week and if I sweet talk her really good maybe she will make us some more. I'm glad she got to go spend time with him. I saw Linda Fugate and Barbara Haddix in Wal Mart tonight and they both looked really good. You can not meet someone in Walmart and not stand and catch up. It's just not possible. I loved talking to them. I also saw Hazel Howard there and she looked really good. Younger and younger each time I see her. She is a sweet lady. And we all think the world of Bill Howard. Sidney Miller had been keeping busy with taking care of the animals up here on the hill while Dale is gone. Adam Miller from Chicago was in for the Honey Festival and he and Sid spent some good times together. There are a lot of stray dogs up this way lately. I counted at least 10 all together by the road. Seems like they all gather in a pack and run the roads. It scares me though that they may get hit. You can always tell where they have been by the garbage that is thrown all over the places. I guess thats it for now! You all have a safe week and take care!! God bless you all.... Diane DUMB BETTY news by Linda Fugate (9-25-03) The trees are all changing their colors and it makes the hills look so pretty. Birds are flying south again. We have to wait until next year to see the beautiful variety of birds flying around again. Years ago there was a woodpecker that would peck on the side of my window, he would not quit until I threw some bread out to him. Every winter for about 5 years I was doing that, until I noticed that he never pecked on the window like he always did. I looked out the window a long time after that waiting for that bird to come and eat some bread but he never did come back. He must have been smart to know how to get his food. I missed him after that. Birds and animals are very smart. There is a family of squirrels that are surely getting their share of food around here. I never got to taste a cherry on my tree this year or last. If I really did want any I know I would have to fight the whole family of squirrels for them. So I just watched them take all the cherries off the tree. Believe it or not, those squirrels carried off almost all the apples too. I kept a good eye on my peach tree cause they were not getting those, I happened to see one going toward the peach tree one day and I threw a rock at it. There would surely be a big battle if they climbed up that tree, I will fight them to the end for my peaches. My neighbors have found 3 dead deer up at Pete branch. Pete branch was misnamed and has a road sign calling it James branch. Lots of places were misnamed. After the last flood we had on Southfork, there were a lot of deer dead in the creek. At first the thought was they must have been washed down from a flash flood but now after hearing about the blue mouth disease, that must have been what happened to them. Our deer population is in danger. The county came and fixed part of the swinging bridge but it needs more work done on it. I am sort of worried because I know that what they fixed is all I am going to get out of them. I keep hearing there are no funds. Where are all the funds they got for such projects? The county says there are none. Our sympathies go out to the family of Codell Neace . He resided on Jones Br. on Southfork. Codell had a lot of friends and will be missed by many. I feel so sorry for anyone who loses a loved one, it is so sad. All of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. May God bless the family of Codell Neace and give them strength to go on. Until next time have a safe and happy week. DUMB BETTY News by Linda Fugate 10-15-03 There was a mighty big storm that hit here and parts of Southfork that knocked down power lines. |
