Two Die in tragic accident 6-8-04 Vancleve, Ky. Two Letcher County men died tragically late Monday night when the driver lost control of his Ford Ranger. The driver apparently left the roadway on Hwy 15 in the Vancleve community, near Coal Tipple Salvage. The driver apparently over corrected and crossed over the roadway hitting the guardrail. The truck traveled an estimated 130 feet sliding on the guardrail. Both driver and passenger were killed. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Breathitt County Coroners office, & Kentucky State Police. Local Law Enforcement, Sheriff John L. Turner, and local fire and rescue did a great job securing the scene and assisting in this tragic accident. According to Coroner Bobby Thorpe Jr. Ralph Stallard, 18, and his brother Jamie Stallard, 27, of Ermine in Letcher county, were pronounced dead at the scene at 11:41pm 6-7-04. According to the Coroner, in the past 2 weeks, there have been 4 fatalities in Breathitt County in automobile accidents. Of those 4 fatalities, none were wearing seatbelts. In all 4 accidents, it could have possibly saved the lives of these victims. |
