Menifee County Schools Upgrade Technology
Menifee County Schools has been busy upgrading the technology in all schools thanks to appropriations made by the 2006 general assembly.
Representative John Will Stacy visited the Menifee County Schools on May 31, 2007 and observed first hand the many improvements the schools are making as a result of the funds made available. Representative Stacy toured labs and classrooms in all the schools as well as observed an interactive classroom demonstration.  Menifee County is very pleased to have had the opportunity to show Representative Stacy the many improvements as well as to thank him for helping secure these funds for all the schools in Kentucky. He has been invited, and has accepted the invitation, to visit again after school starts in August to observe students and teachers using the new technology. We also hope to have Senator Tom Jenson to visit.
The Menifee County Schools received $44,232 for Instructional Device Upgrades. The first 76 computer systems were installed and were being used by students by mid February 2007. The schools will receive the same amount in July and plans to have all units installed and ready for students to use before students come back to school on August 8, 2007. The funding for the computers is Menifee County’s share of the 50 million state total appropriated by the 2006 general assembly.
Interactive classroom equipment is also being installed in every classroom thanks to a KISTA/NMTC loan that was applied for and received. The district plans to have all of them operational before school starts in August. The interactive classrooms will allow staff and students to access and present a wealth of information in all content areas with ease. This will enhance instruction and make learning more fun. The expectation is that learning will increase along with accountability scores.
Menifee County is extremely fortunate to have two very talented individuals, Sam Williams the head technology technician/specialist and Garrett David Wells head of maintenance, that are doing all of the interactive classroom installs. This is a huge savings to the district and that savings will be converted to more technology for students to use.
On behalf of Superintendent Charles Mitchell and the Menifee County Board of Education, we want to thank Representative Stacy and Senator Jenson and all who have a part in enhancing student instruction and learning through helping to improve the technology programs in Kentucky schools.
