| Oakdale Christian High School Receives Full Accreditation On June 12, 2002, Oakdale Christian High School was approved by the Ohio River Valley Accreditation Commission as officially meeting the standards of the Association of Christian Schools International for full academic accreditation. The school's accreditation project was coordinated under the direction of President Dan Fisher. Oakdale is located at 5801 Beattyville Road, Jackson, KY. The school is Free Methodist and was founded in 1921. The school serves students grades 7-12 from Breathitt County and across the United States. Accreditation by ACSI is a recognition granted to a sound Christian school for a period of seven years as determined through careful research into the status of the school. Its effectiveness is determined by the extent to which it meets the needs of the students whom it serves. Accreditation confirms that the school has met the standards established by ACSI for accredited schools in such areas as organization and administration, instructional program, faculty preparation and proficiency, media services, finances, student activities, budget, various services, and school plant. ACSI is a service organization serving Christian schools and colleges across the United States and around the world. Its mission is to provide leadership, programs and services in order to bring about excellence in these schools to the glory of God. ACSI presently has a membership of over 5,000 schools and colleges and a student enrollment of over one million students. President Fisher anticipates that achieving this milestone of accreditation will increase the visibility of the school within the community and will encourage local families to consider Oakdale as a opportunity for excellence in education for their students. When asked about Oakdale*s accreditation, President Fisher says, "Oakdale has been a stable and positive part of the Breathitt County community for over 80 years. I believe that as Oakdale continues to distinguished itself as a place with quality academics and a positive learning environment, people will seek it out as an attractive choice for junior high and high school education. Already our local student enrollment has increased for the 2002-2003 school year. We cannot determine that this is directly linked to our accreditation, but we anticipate that this interest will continue to grow." Oakdale Christian High School celebrates this advancement and is proud of the college-preparatory experience that they offer to students and their families. President Dan Fisher says, "accreditation confirms what I have always known Oakdale, that the academic program is rigorous, that the staff is qualified and that the school is ready to meet the challenges of today*s students." |
