Jackson City Begins 1st ever Soccer Season 8-19-02 Jackson, Ky. Today marks a first in the history of Jackson City School. At 4:45pm, Jackson City will field it's first ever High School Soccer team. Jackson City will travel to Perry County Central to face the Commodores soccer team. Jackson City is coached by soccer veteran Ian Chapman. Ian grew up playing soccer in Cailfornia and has made Jackson his home for 5 years now. Ian has been active in coaching youth soccer in the county. Principal Tim Spencer voiced his excitement saying," We have been very impressed with the turnout and we are very excited at the interest the kids have taken in this." Mr. Spencer went on to say, "We are happy to have Ian as our coach and think he has done a great job. We look forward to the upcoming season." Coach Chapman said that he expects this year to be an exciting one, but wanted to assure us they will not just be meeting expectations, but exceeding them. Everyone is welcome to come out and support the Jackson City Tigers soccer team.
Jackson City High School Wins First Ever Soccer Game !!! 9-28-02 Jackson Ky. The Jackson City High School soccer program completed a feat never accomplished in their School's athletic history. On Saturday, Sept. 28th, they defeated Shelby Valley in double Overtime by the score of 4 - 3. Jackson, which lost a heartbreaking overtime game this past Thursday night, played another great game. Dutch Chapman scored 2 goals and Chad Clair also scored 2 goals, including the game winner in the 2nd overtime. It was a well deserved hard fought victory. Coach Chapman and the entire Jackson City team did a wonderful job. They have shown poise and great sportsmanship, despite this being their first season at High school soccer. With this being the first year, they have taken their expected lumps, but have shown great character and playing hard.

Breathitt Loses Heartbreaker 3-12-04 Jackson, Ky. The Breathitt County Boys Basketball team, had their season brought to an abrupt halt as the Perry County Central Commodores defeated the Bobcats by 2 points. Breathitt fell behind early as P.C.C. jumped out to a 17 point halftime lead. Breathitt had cut the lead to 11 early in the 4th quarter. P.C.C. fought back the Bobcats as much as they could, but the Breathitt Bobcats would not go away. Breathitt trailing by 2 in the final seconds had the chance to tie the game or even win it on a last second shot, but it was not meant to be as the shot missed it's target. Congratulations to the 2003/2004 Breathitt County Bobcats on a great season!
